All counselors and facilitators should be approved by their parish and either the Girls Scouts USA, or Camp Fire USA. Counselors must submit their "Intent to Begin" forms prior to working with youth. This form is an integral part of our commitment to compliance with Archdiocesan "Safe Environment Policies".

The Spirit Alive
The Girl Scout Religious Awards program has been created with the approval of the Girl Scout USA to call the girls to faith and a belief in God. The program calls girls to grow in their Catholic faith and personal commitment to Christ in the scouting program. The program should be run by a qualified facilitator, who may be a parent or parish catechist.
The Camp Fire Religious Awards program has been created with the approval of the Camp Fire USA to call the boys and girls to faith and a belief in God. The program calls youth to grow in their Catholic faith and personal commitment to Christ in the scouting program. The program should be run by a qualified facilitator, who may be a parent or parish catechist. Please note, that while the Girl Scout awards are the same for Camp Fire, the Camp Fire Religious Awards program is available for both boys and girls.

Family of God

The Family of God program is the official religious recognition program of the Roman Catholic Church in the U.S.A. for children ages 7-9, who are enrolled in the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., Camp Fire USA, and The Junior Catholic Daughters of the Americas. The Family of God is an activity series developed to complement the catechetical efforts of the parish and families with children in the second and third grades.
This program is an activity-based program for girls in the 2nd and 3rd grade. It calls girls to recognize and discover the presence of God in their day-to-day lives. Each activity and chapter calls the girl to see God in her own family as well as the family of God.
The program generally takes 3 to 4 months for completion. After completion of program, the application with all required signatures is sent with $5.00 to Girl Scout Awards Chair, Shirlee Wiener, 1577 Northeast Expressway, Atlanta, GA 30329 phone (770-993-4996). I live My Faith

The I Live My Faith program is designed to help Girl Scouts and Camp Fire members, ages 9-11, appreciate more deeply the place that God and religion occupy in their daily life.
This program calls girls to live their Catholic faith who are in the 4th and 5th grade. "I live my Faith" is organized in project units that call girls to grow and mature as Catholics. The program generally takes about 4 to 6 months for completion. After completion of program, the application with all required signatures is sent with $5.00 to Girl Scout Awards Chair, Shirlee Wiener, 1577 Northeast Expressway, Atlanta, GA 30329 phone (770-993-4996). Marian Medal

Through Mary, the First Disciple (Marian Medal), young Catholics (ages 12-15) will grow in appreciation of Mary and in understanding themselves. They will meet Mary in Scripture as a young teenager and will follow her journey, as she becomes a woman and the Mother of God.
This program calls girls to live their Catholic faith who are in the 7th, 8th and 9th grade. The program is written to enable girls to "Proclaim the greatness of the Lord" with activities involving them to an understanding of Mary as the model of openness and spiritually – woman of the Church. The program allows girls to grow in an understanding of her Catholic faith and its rich traditions.
The Marian is presented at the Archdiocese Scouting Mass in Spring. All completion of the Marian program all girls must attend a Board of Review with the Catholic Scouting committee. Girls should bring their workbook, completed application, evaluation and $5.00 fee to the Board of Review. Call Mrs. Wiener with questions (770-993-4996). The Spirit Alive

The Spirit Alive program is designed for Catholic youth in high school who are in the Senior level of Girl Scouts or are Horizon Club members of Camp Fire. It assists them in discovering how the Holy Spirit moves in their lives, calling them to greater participation in the church’s ministry.
This program calls girls to live their Catholic faith who are in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. The program calls the older girls to better understand the Holy Spirit in their lives and where the Sprit calls them in their lives. Girls are called to consider their call and vocation in the church and opportunities for ministry. The Spirit Alive is presented at the Archdiocese Scouting Mass in Spring. All completion of "The Spirit Alive" program all girls must attend a Board of Review with the Catholic Scouting committee. Girls should bring their workbook, completed application, evaluation and $5.00 fee to the Board of Review. Call Mrs. Wiener with questions (770-993-4996). Youth Recognition Ceremony
Each year, our diocese holds our annual Bishop's Scouting Mass & Youth Recognition ceremony to honor those Boy and Girl Scouts, Venturing Crew members, and Camp Fire USA boys and girls. This year, those boys and girls who have earned their awards and completed their board of review will have their awards presented by The Most Reverend Wilton D. Gregory, Archbishop of Atlanta. This year, the Bishop's Scouting Mass was held on May 3, 2008 at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church.
