Press Releases

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The Atlanta Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people who have either stepped down from the Committee as a Chairman, changed positions during 2007 or joined the Committee as a new Chairman.

First we would like to thank both Gary LaPointe, Cub/Boy Scout Emblems Chairman, and Kelley Bishop Lennard, Membership Chairman, who have resigned due to
family obligations.

David Joyce, Vice Chairman and Training Chairman, has resigned and moved to Hinesville, Georgia due to a change in employment.  David, you have sent forth many trained Counselors to work with the youth of the Archdiocese and we are forever greatful.

In addition to the above mentioned people, Tommy Treat, Committee Chairman, has changed positions and is now the new Cub/Boy Scout Emblems Chairman.  Under
Tommy’s leadership, the Atlanta Archdiocese achieved Quality Diocese status again in 2006 for the fourth time in a row.  Thank you Tommy for all you do for the youth of the
Archdiocese.

We would also like to extend a welcome to Tom Bender as our new Committee Chairman, Deacon Tom Gotschall our new Training Chairman and Bill Leach our new Membership
Chairman.  Thank you to all of the above mentioned Committee members for your strong leadership and all that you have done and will continue to do for Catholic Scouting and the youth in this Archdiocese.
